3 Unique Ways To Honor A Loved One Who Has Passed

When you lose someone who you loved dearly, you want their memory to live on in your heart and in the hearts of others who knew them. There are plenty of conventional ways to honor a deceased loved one. You put up a grave stone with their name on it, and maybe you bring flowers to their grave once a year on the anniversary of their passing. However, these are far from the only ways to honor the deceased. Here are three more unique ways to honor a loved one who has passed.

1. Dedicate a star in their honor.

There are billions and trillions of stars in the sky — so many that humans cannot possibly name them all. As such, there are organizations that offer star dedicating services. They will name stars in honor of your loved one. You can pick out a star, and they'll give it whatever name you choose. You could simply give it your loved one's name, or you could name it after something they loved. For example, if they loved NASCAR racing, maybe you could name a star "Indy 500" in their honor. Each time you look up into the night sky and see that star, you will think of your loved one. 

2. Plant a grove of trees.

Another way to honor your loved one is to plant a grove of trees in their honor. Clear an area in your yard, and put down a few concrete pavers, topped with a bench. Then, plant a couple of seedlings around the bench. Make sure you choose trees that make nice shade trees, such as red maples or oak. As the trees grow, you'll be reminded of your loved one. You can sit on the bench, surrounded by their trees, and revisit your memories of them.

3. Write a song for them.

If you have any musical talent whatsoever, try composing a song about or for your loved one. It can be simple — a stanza or two — or a more complex arrangement. Music is a wonderful way to honor your loved one since it allows you to not only express your feelings with a tune, but with words. You can write about your loved one directly, or you can write about something they would have loved. You can share the song with others, or just keep it to yourself.

These are just a few of the many ways you can honor someone close to you who has passed away.
