Five Awesome Gifts For The Clumsy Person In Your Life

by Clarence Horton

When the time comes to buy a gift for someone, it's always nice to get something that's customized to their personality and needs. It helps to think about that person's defining characteristics and then zero in on one of them, buying a gift that aligns with that characteristic. If your friend or family member's defining characteristic is "clumsy," here are a few gifts you'll want to consider.

A Phone Screen Protector

Replacing a phone screen — or an entire phone after the screen cracks — is not cheap. Many clumsy people break their phone screens when they drop them or bang them into something. If you give them a phone screen protector, this device will help prevent costly future cracks. You can find phone screen protectors made especially for Samsung phones and other made for various versions of the iPhone. The next time you see your friend, pay close attention to the type of phone they have so you can be sure to order the right one.

You can pair the phone screen protector with a new phone case if you prefer. There are even protectors made to coordinate with specific cases for the ultimate prevention of cracks and chips.

Stain Pens

If your clumsy friend tends to spill things and stain their clothing, consider giving them a few stain pens. Read reviews on various brands and find one that's effective on a wide array of stains. Your friend will enjoy having a spare stain pen to keep in their purse or in the car. Consider including a cute little note that says something like "We know you're prone to spills, but we love you anyways!"

No-Spill Travel Mugs

This is another great gift for the spill-prone friend! You could pair this gift together with the stain pens if you want to be a bit more generous. There are several different models of no-spill travel mugs that will keep your friend's clothing from paying the price for their clumsiness. The best models have a one-way valve as the sipping spout so that no liquid comes out unless the the user sucks on it. There are other mugs with spill guards that may not prevent spills entirely, but will keep any spilled liquid from flying in the direction of the person holding the mug.

A Laptop Case

If you fear your friend will be a bit offended by the clumsy-proofing gifts presented so far, consider giving them a laptop case instead. This gift will still help them with their clumsiness since it will keep their laptop from sustaining damage if they drop or bang it. However, it does not so obviously suggest they are clumsy.

Since laptop cases come sized to fit certain computers, keep your eyes peeled to see what size computer your friend has the next time they're around. You could also just pretend you are shopping for a laptop, and ask what size they have and what they think about it. If your friend rides a bike to work, make sure you purchase a case with a strap so they can carry their computer easily. Otherwise, styles with a zipper on three sides tend to be versatile, easy-to-use options.

An Unstainable Shirt

There are several companies that make what they call "unstainable shirts." These shirts are made from a material that sheds water and liquids very quickly. Anything you spill on the shirt will run right off its surface rather than absorbing into the material and causing a stain. Consider purchasing them a more formal unstainable shirt they can wear to work and a second one in a more casual style.
